Sri C Rajagopalachari has said "That India has a great future is certain. My faith is as strong as ever, but we must shed the fond dream of driving the ball into the hole in one stroke. We must abandon the notion that it is patriotic to be in the wilderness and that if we avoid present responsibility , the great prize will drop on us a gift from the Gods above in return for the Tapasya of abstention ". How true the great man's words are. Here in India ,our politicians, in their sing-song voice thump their table and cry 'Mera Bharat Mahaan '. How ridiculous ! Here in India what a common man aspires is fulfilment of his basic requirements. A perennial victim of cirumstances, he is a prey to those prowling for the Chairs . Talking of chairs , rather rocking chairs, the chairpersons find the common man guilty and condemn him. The punishment is evident. Hike in price and tax. Road tax for bumpy, potholed roads, water bill for eye-drop water, a lovely electricity bill for fluctuating or no voltage at all etcetera . Does the cry of the common man for help reach those power ears ? That is the Million-Dollar-question. When he complains, the authorities do not heed to complaints ,he gets frustrated and stops responding to what is going on.Can lack of basic amenities, improper education system,deep-rooted corruption, increasing violence make our Country Mahaan ? Will brain-drain make our Country Mahaan? Does the constant price-rise in essential commodities make our Country Mahaan?
When all these questions remain unanswered , how can our dear (?)politicians sing Mera Bharat Mahaan !
